basement 3 by Joe Lencioni

basement-3 ƒ/22.0, 15 s, 100 ISO

The third and final in the series. This is the same wall and outlet of the previous shot, just from a different perspective. This shot captures the cracks in the wall better, whereas the last shot captures the bright yellow in the top section of the wall and the nails better. I guess if I had to pick my favorite of the two, it would be this one. If I had to pick my favorite of the series, it would be the first one.

A small section of the floor peeks up just on the bottom of the frame that I’m hoping I didn’t make too dark. I’m thinking that it might not show up on most LCD monitors… I wanted this series to be very dark, but I didn’t want to lose any of the interesting details in the shadows. I guess that’s always a challenge, though, especially when people use different equipment to view photos.

The Nicollet County Fair was in town this weekend and I went shooting. I think I may have a couple of things that I can use on here in a few days.

  1. You manage to capture a great essence of simplicity within destruction and decay. And the colours you grab are fantastic. For me, this shot typifies much of this — great work Joe…
