Wahlstrom Hall 2
August 16, 2005The front side of Wahlstrom Hall, shot from nearly the same place as the previous shot.
I honestly don’t care too much for this shot—I don’t think it’s that good. I just couldn’t get it to work. Yesterday’s shot was much better, but I felt that since Wahlstrom is being torn down, I should post something that at least tries to capture the face of the building and not just a wall that could be from anywhere. Hopefully I’ll be able to get some cool shots while it is in the process of being torn down. I guess it’s supposed to take like three weeks or so.
In other news, I got my Holga in the mail yesterday. I’m totally excited to get some film and start experimenting hardcore. Hopefully I’ll have some time this weekend to do some of that. Also, it’s my parents’ 36th wedding anniversary. Congratulations mom and pop! That’s quite an accomplishment.

It always amazes me how artists don’t like some of their own work. I’m like that too.
I like the shot a lot it has that great urban feel – but to be honest I am one of those people who believe that sometimes recording buidings like this that will be gone is just as important.

John – Yeah, you’re right. I think it is a pretty decent shot, but I guess I probably don’t like it because I had a different vision for it. Maybe it’s not so much the shot’s fault, but more my expectations’ fault. It probably helps to be a bit detached from one’s work sometimes to be able to appreciate it.
In other news, a live webcam of Wahlstrom Hall went up today. That way you can watch the progress of it being torn down over the next few weeks.
