another corn field at night

These nighttime corn field shots are getting me all excited about Halloween coming up soon. They remind me of that old Charlie Brown and the Great Pumpkin tape that I used to watch every year around this time. Man, what a great tape. The Christmas tape and the others are good too.
As for the shot, I couldn’t decide whether I liked it in color or black and white better. So, I just put up the color version and decided to leave it at that. I wasn’t even thinking of doing a black and white version until I was sharpening the lightness channel in lab mode and it just sorta popped out. I tried copying the lightness channel and then bringing it back into RGB mode and pasting it into a new layer with the mode set to luminoscity and it gave me some pretty cool effects. Unfortunately, they weren’t really all that suited for this particular shot, but I think that I will end up trying that on some other photos in the future.

Gorgous colors. There is something a little different about this image… I feel as if it’s a little curved? Whatever it is, I like the effect. It makes me feel like I’m catching a glimpse of Earth’s curvature.

Thanks everybody!
Ariela: the curvature is from the 15mm lens that I was using. It has some barrel distortion that gives it that cool, curved effect.

Love it, the movement in the corn, the stars picked out of the motion blurred sky. Fantastic.
