With all of these Fisher photographs being posted lately, it reminds me of all my ties with Fisher nuts. My mom used to work for the Fisher nut company way way back when. I don’t know if I had been born yet or not, I don’t think that I had. But, I do remember going to the Fisher nut factory once when I was little. Although it wasn’t because my mom was working there at the time. Rather, it was because my dad also ran a Fisher nut stand at the Minnesota State Fair and he needed a ton of Fisher nuts. He also sold Hi-C drink boxes, but I think that he got those on a special order from Cub Foods. My favorite was Ecto Cooler because it was green and had a picture of Slimer from The Real Ghostbusters cartoon show on it.

My dad had the peanut stand for twelve years until he got a new idea and a new stand and sold hot Pasties for four years. Then he sold the hot pasty stand to some other people who are still going at it every summer, I believe. We were always located right in front of Ye Old Mill, the dark and romantic boat ride that has been there since 1913. However, you probably won’t be able to find the stand there anymore—€”they relocated it to somewhere that I can’t remember right now. Those were fond times for me. The end of every summer was marked with my living at the State Fair for a couple of weeks and helping my dad sell food. I was a crazy, Hi-C powered kid who lived on a steady diet of fireworks every night and arcade games every day.
