Inside my tetsubin teapot

A bird’s eye view of my tetsubin teapot. I love this pot. Sam didn’t even like tea and still gave it to me as a great gift. It makes the perfect amount of tea for 2-3 people and now she has seen the many wonders of tea.
If you aren’t a tea liker, I would urge you to learn a little about how to properly brew tea and then try a variety of teas because chances are that you haven’t had anything but lousy tea bags that were probably improperly brewed. Tea can be a very delicate thing. And, so can a tetsubin teapot if you don’t take proper care of it. For instance, do not let any salt or oil come into contact with the teapot or it will ruin the finish and eventually cause rust to happen. And it is also important to warm your tetsubin up with some warm water before pouring the near-boiling water into it to steep the tea because there is an enamel coating that could crack from the sudden temperature change.
If you are in the United States, today is Thanksgiving. This year my parents are down at my house and everything that we are cooking is entirely new. Seriously, I haven’t even ever tasted half of the ingredients in my life. It is Thanksgiving Extreme at my house. We are breaking all of the rules this year. So happy Thanksgiving everyone.
In nerd land news, I added IPTC core and other metadata to my images on the photoblog yesterday. It is basically entirely unnoticable until you actually download any of my images and open them up in some sort of IPTC-enabled photo software program (such as Adobe Bridge). I hope that all that work will be useful for someone some day. If anything, it should earn me at least two nerd points.

Happy Thanksgiving, Joe. I like your teapot shot. Just an FYI–I’m on my dad’s computer using internet explorer and it’s doing that whole ‘bold’ thing. :)

I bought my first yixing teapot a couple years ago. I found a larger “family style” one last year that I love. I’ve always wanted an iron tetsubin. Glad you enjoy it.

Earl: You should definitely just splurge and get an iron tetsubin. They are very nice and will last for forever if you take good care of them.
