a line in the brew foam

Another shot from my homebrew boil this weekend. I really liked the clarity of the bubbles in this shot and the vertical white stripe adds a level of interest to what would probably be an otherwise bland photograph. Oddly enough, it reminds me a bit of the Pepsi logo [1].
In the post-processing I enhanced the depth of field with a lens blur filter and a gradient mask and did the black and white conversion using two channel mixer adjustment layers (one to black and white and another to give it a sepia-esque tone).
If you are subscribed to my RSS feed, you probably noticed that yesterday I added links to the feed. So, now you don’t have to be on my site to get the full benefit of the links that I stick into everything. If you don’t know what RSS is yet, do yourself a huge favor by getting an entirely free bloglines account. You’ll thank me later. RSS will revolutionize everything you thought you knew about the internet and is hands down one of the most important technologies of the decade. Don’t miss out on something this big.

Great image. I like the toning. Btw, I lived in Mankato, MN though my undergrad years until I moved to delaware for my grad studies. Some your photos definately reminds me of some very fond memories. Thanks.

Very cool. Been a while since I made homebrew. Infact since I left uni…something in that I think. Hope it tastes good.

Partha: I’m glad that my photos have brought back fond memories for you. Any in particular?
Rob: I sampled the wort just before I added the yeast and it tasted pretty good even though it wasn’t cold and hadn’t been fermented or carbonated yet.

Beautiful abstract. I didn’t know what it was until I read your description. Post-processing is well done.
