This is another shot from in Christ Chapel. You are looking at part of the baptismal font sculpture done by Paul Granlund. It’s a pretty cool sculpture and it stands right at the main entrance. In the background is another Granlund sculpture that holds candles that people can light with a prayer.
In other news, I am sad to report that I will be scaling back quite a bit on my photoblog. I have recently realized that I spend more time at my computer than what is physically healthy, so I need to cut back some. Since I’m not planning on changing careers, it has to come out of my personal time at the computer. And, while it is hard for me to do so because I enjoy it so much, I think cutting back on my photoblog will result in a significant improvement in my physical health. So, with that said, you can expect to see sporadic posting that will hopefully be of higher than standard quality.
But, I think that this will come with some added bonuses. First, I will be able to spend more time focusing on actually taking pictures and not worrying so much about producing content every day for the web. I hope this will allow me to improve my skills. Additionally, I am hoping to focus more on improving the sore spots of my photography, especially the conceptual side of things. I’d like to put a lot more thought into my photography instead of always just going out to shoot something.
The photo a day thing was a lot of fun while it lasted. I think that I had a pretty good run at it and really enjoyed reading all of your comments. The comments are always the most encouraging part of all of this. So, keep checking back and we’ll get some new stuff posted up here soon enough. Who’s in a big rush, anyway?

Cool! I like how the candles in the background add more “holiness” to the picture.
By the way, you might have already heard about him, I recently found out about this guy who actually physically creates and plans his pictures. They’re crazy (in a good way), and thought it might interest you.

This is lovely. I don’t mean to be repetitious with the last comment but “lovely” is what came to mind. It’s so full of quiet movement. Warm and spiritual. You have the sense of a soothing cloister, a safe place, guarded.

Great shot, Joe. Is that vignetting natural? If not, how do you do that kind of thing? Any good online sources to look at?
