Just wanna say that the https bug has been fixed as far as I can tell. Haven’t bumped into other protocols like ftp, but I suppose you got those included as well.
Keep up the good work!

You should think about adding support for things like paintedover, imageshack, imagesocket, fileanchor, etc. Generic image hosts. Or even better, a tutorial on how to manually code the scripts needed to support these hosts.

@Karnov: The way that Greased Lightbox figures out the URL of the larger image must be based on either the URL of the link or the URL of the thumbnail image. Unfortunately, some generic image hosts like imageshack do not have URLs that give away the location of the larger image. (It seems that imagesocket actually does)
However, the tutorial is a great idea. I think I might write one up and post it here.
In the meantime, do you happen to have or know of a fairly comprehensive list of image hosts? It would be helpful to have.

Wikipedia has a pretty good list of different hosts:

Also speaking of wikipedia, I think support should definitely been added for it, seeing as how popular it is.

Can someone let me know if this works with our service?
Thank you in advance guys.

@Karnov: thanks for the link. It will be helpful.
Also, support for wikipedia was actually added in this release. However, the support doesn’t extend to other wiki sites (even those running the same software, MediaWiki) such as the one you linked to, wikiclassifieds.

@Aleksey: Greased Lightbox does not currently work with your service, but I believe that I can add support with the next release. I will notify you when that happens.

If you want some help adding support for FileAnchor, let me know. Both our thumbnails now and the thumbnailed versions on the new version of FileAnchor we’ll be putting out are standard and easy to get off the main image url.
Contact me at mike@fileanchor.com and I’ll explain what’s need.

Thanks Mike!

I figured I’d save you from having to email.
As of right now, thumbnails and images work like this:
Raw image: http://fileanchor.com/{fileID}-r.{filetype}
Thumbnailed image: http://fileanchor.com/{fileID}-r.{filetype}
This would make it fairly easy to determine the difference between a raw image and thumbnail or switch from one to the next. The format is the same for every image right now on FileAnchor.
Example:
http://fileanchor.com/30551-r.png -raw image
http://fileanchor.com/30551-t.png -thumbnail

Thanks again Mike. I’ll look into doing this some more hopefully this week when things slow down a bit. Life has been busy lately.

Upon further inspection, it looks like I don’t need to do anything to add support for FileAnchor because if the person using it is presumably linking directly to the image. That should automatically work then.
However, I couldn’t easily find any examples in the wild.. So, if you could point me to some websites that showcase people actually using the FileAnchor service, that would be great!

Joe,
I’m going to link you to some file options pages for files that are already uploaded onto FileAnchor. They’ll show the thumbnail for the image below all the links and html code. Clicking that thumbnail will act just as a normal thumbnail would.

Thanks,
