This blog, shifting pixel, was born nearly one year ago, on July 31, 2005. One year is a huge milestone to be passing and I can’t believe that it has gone by so fast.

To celebrate, I have invited the following five photobloggers–who not only have inspired me to begin photoblogging, but who also have inspired me over the past year–to be guest photographers over the next five days on shifting pixel.

Susan Burnstine from Outafocus

Since the moment I discovered her work, Susan has shown me the beauty that toy cameras, such as the Holga, can capture. She is from Los Angeles and has a well-developed resume. Susan earned B&W Magazine’s Excellence Award for the 2006 Portfolio Contest, her portfolio was featured in Black & White Photography Magazine and her work has also been seen in Kamera & Bild Magazine, Shots Magazine, and Camera Arts. Galleries she’s exhibited with, include; The Center For Photographic Art, Soho Photo Gallery, The Center For Fine Art Photography, The Wild Wood Gallery, The Art of Photography at the Lyceum Theatre in San Diego, and The Lisa Coscino Gallery.

John Washington

Getting to watch John’s style develop over the past year has, for me, been very exciting. Besides maintaining his daily photoblog, he does graphic design work and teaches graphic design and photography at a local university. John is based in Bolton, Lancashire, UK.

Bob Smith from Notraces

Bob’s photos are incredible and his night shots are second to none. While he is partial to film, he still seems to love his Canon 5D. However, the way he writes brings me back down to the ground and makes me feel like an old friend. Although Bob lives in the Chicago area, he manages to travel quite a bit.

Miles Storey from Mute

While I have never met Miles, I get the feeling from various interactions with him that he is a no-nonsense, humble, good guy. He has contributed to FILE Magazine and has been interviewed by Seven Pages. Miles lives in Toronto, Ontario and works for Rigent Design and Development, Inc..

Ed Leveckis

The darkness that Ed brings in his photographs has lately been the biggest influence on my style. His photos are beautiful, haunting, and risky. He describes himself as “just a guy with a cam and a pocket full of tri-x.” Ed has contributed to FILE Magazine and Lodown Magazine. Additionally, his work has been featured on WeeklyShot. Ed is located in New York City.

Update: Ed never showed up. :(
