Amur Tiger - Panthera tigris altaica

This tiger is also known as the Siberian, Korean, Manchurian, or North China Tiger and is currently classified as a critically endangered species.
The Tiger Lair on the Northern Trail at the Minnesota Zoo was my favorite part of the whole zoo because these two Amur Tigers came right up to the glass. I was crouched down for a photo and one of the tigers jumped up right in front of me and put its paws on the glass. It was quite intimidating. I waited around for a while and they started fighting… They were just playing, but it was really cool to watch.

Nice kitty. Those darn critters didn’t come anywhere near the glass the last time we were at the zoo. I’m glad I now get to see what I missed!

Interesting, there must be some sort of modeling handbook for tigers.

An amazing animal. I only wish that more people would get involved with the conservation of endangered animals. That’s what I’ll do when I grow up. :^)

I really really really wish I could read Spanish, but sadly I can only speak a few words. :(
