Scenes from an Open Mic, Part 1 by Joe Lencioni

I went to this open mic night at the Southern Theater in Minneapolis with Anthony this weekend. It’s actually a weekly midnight open mic night that they refer to as a Cabaret Ball and has been active for over fifteen years.

Acts this weekend ranged from stand-up comedy, to storytelling and poetry, to musical performances. There were even a couple of pieces performed by the wonderfully talented Flying Foot Forum.

There were a lot of excellent performances throughout the two hours. The whole thing was quite a good experience and definitely worth the $5 admission. If you are in town sometime, check it out. And if you are in the mood, sign up to perform. All of the people there were very nice and welcoming.
