I went up to the Borgeson Family Cabin at the college and snapped a few shots. Most of them didn’t turn out because the lighting wasn’t quite right, but I did end up liking this one quite a bit.
It reminds me of a lyric:
“I color the sky with you. I let you choose the blue”
— “Everyone Needs an Editor,” Mates of State
I sorta forgot about black and white for a while. But, when I was taking these shots, I saw them in black and white and shot them with that in mind. Since I think this one turned quite well, I’ll be brushing up my black and white conversion skills and posting some more black and whites in the future. Hopefully soon.
I’d also like to go back to the cabin and try and get a good black and white that encompasses the whole cabin and not just a little corner. It’ll be a good challenge for me.

What a great shot. You really have a gift for taking a part of larger image an making it into a special image of it’s own. The b&W does this one good. Nicely pulled of.
Btw: I hadn’t heard of “Mates of State” but I just checked out them out. They sound soooo cool. Reminds me a bit of “The Postal Service”. Definetly gonna listen to them some more. Thanks

@Peter: Thanks for the nice compliment, I’m glad you like this shot.
Just to clarify, this photo was not taken from a larger image. Rather, it was a photo of its own.
And, be sure to check out Mates of State. They are one of the best groups around. I even have some Mates of State photos from when they were at First Ave. in Minneapolis.
