Happy Waterdrop
August 3, 2007This was posted by guest photographer Andrew Faulkner of fadtastic.net to celebrate the two-year birthday of Shifting Pixel. More information.
The Happy Waterdrop was captured during an experimental project where I took photos of waterdrops in my sink. I expected the odd decent shot of a waterdrop to come out but when I saw the Happy Waterdrop appear I was amazed. Surely a one in a million. Since its birth, the Happy Waterdrop has travelled to 5 continents where it has appeared at water roadshows, in chemistry books and a Lake District brochure. Most important of all, a copy sits above the bath at home, bringing a smile to me every day.

I think I’ve seen this before indeed. And it is in fact a wonderful shot; one I just can’t stop looking at really. Splendid.

Joe, thanks for showcasing the Happy Waterdrop. It’s an honour.
Nils, thanks for your kind words. I find it amazing how long I spend looking at it each day in my apartment.

This shot is so gorgeous that I think I am going to go fill my sink up with water and try for one myself! Absolutely inspirational!
