two eight nine

I went to downtown Saint Peter to take some city night shots last night and this is pretty much what I saw right when I got out of my car. I’m really happy with how it turned out–it’s my first successful HDR 32-bit image ever (which is why you don’t get any EXIF data below). I made it in Photoshop using four different exposures of the same scene.

I shot a bunch of stuff last night with HDR experimentation in mind, so if anything else turned out you should expect to see a few more of these over the next few days. I hope to get out with my Holga some today and see what happens. I loaded some film a couple weeks ago, but ended up not using any of it yet.

Unfortunately, I got off to a slow start last night because I was so forgetful. First, I left home for the office to go and grab the 15mm lens, but I forgot my office key. So I went back to home to pick up that keyring and went back to the office to grab the lens. Then, I went downtown and got my camera out, put the 15mm on it, and got out of my car when I realized that I forgot to grab a memory card. So, back up to the house and back downtown with a memory card. Then, as I’m setting up today’s shot, I realized that I forgot my cable release for my camera in the car. Ugh… But, everything turned out well in the end.

  1. This is a fantastic shot; color, lighting, subject matter, etc. I’ve never done any type of HDR experimentation but you’ve got me thinking about it now.

  2. This is a very neat shot, Joe. I’m a fan.

  3. I don’t know anything about HDR bits, but this photo is fabulous.
